Unless you’ve been hiding in the forest lately, COVID-19 has been part of your daily conversation. It’s real, as are other strains of cold and flu. It is out of scope for Naturopathic Doctors to treat or test for COVID-19, however it is totally in our scope to do our best to help you keep strong and healthy.

How to tell if we are beating COVID here

Some tips below on how to keep your immune system strong. 

It is those over age 65, those who are ill or who are immune compromised who are most at risk for strong cases of this disease. Yes, people are dying from this. This is a new virus never experienced by humans before, so there is no telling exactly how it could impact the world. Because it is in many countries, it is considered a pandemic

Keep strong and carry on

There are plenty of ways to build your immune system. For specific dose, timing and duration, please book an appointment. This information is educational only and not intended for medical advice. 

  • Avoid gluten, dairy and sugar and alcohol
  • Eat lots of leafy greens, squash, cabbages, other fresh organic vegetables
  • A video on how to wash your groceries and produce here
  • Vitamin A, C, D, E, Selenium, Magnesium and Zinc.  
  • Reduce inflammation with healthy fats: olive, fish, walnuts, hemp, flax, almonds, avocados
  • Probiotics
  • Reduce stress
  • Breathing deeply (deep, full breaths in and out – preferable in fresh air)
  • Alternate hot cold showers (4 min hot, 1 min cold, repeat x3 always end on cold)
  • regular sleep
  • hydrate well
  • support your detox processes
  • Book a 15 min phone call appointment to arrange for herbal and homeopathic remedies to help strengthen the body specific to your common weak points.

Obvious protection


  • wash hands well with soap and water, frequently.
  • if no soap and water available, use a natural hand sanitizer.
  • keep hands away from mouth, nose, eyes and ears
  • cough or sneeze into elbow or tissue, then throw that tissue away
  • no handshaking! A smile will go for miles. A nod with graciousness is lovely too.
  • use a paper towel or glove or disinfectant wipe to handle doors, gas pumps, elevator buttons

COVID-19 Symptoms

Someone may be infected and could transmit the corona virus for two to 14 days before showing any symptoms. 

The main symptoms of coronavirus are:

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath

Additional symptoms may include:

  • Headache
  • Muscular stiffness and pain 
  • Loss of appetite
  • Malaise, extreme generalised fatigue
  • Chills
  • Confusion
  • Dizziness
  • Rash
  • Night sweats
  • Stomach upset, such as nausea or diarrhea

The symptoms of coronavirus are similar to a bad cold or the flu
